About Subaki
Subaki is a highly streamlined iOS application designed to take the friction out of video captioning for content creators. Geared toward short-form video platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, it automatically generates accurate, perfectly timed subtitles. Users simply choose a video from their gallery, and the app's voice recognition engine handles the heavy lifting, outputting text word-by-word exactly as it is spoken in any of its eight supported languages. What truly sets Subaki apart is its absolute commitment to user privacy and a seamless experience. There are no accounts to create, no sign-ups required, no hidden tracking, and absolutely no intrusive watermarks or ads. Once the text is generated, users have full creative control to restyle fonts, tweak colors, adjust text outlines, and apply popular 'karaoke' effects. Furthermore, the video file never leaves the user's device; only the audio is briefly and securely sent to the cloud for transcription. Subaki features a uniquely generous pricing model. It is completely free forever for creators based in Greece, the solo developer's home country. For users elsewhere, the first three videos are free, followed by an ultra-affordable 'early-bird' Pro tier of just $11.99 (or €11.99) per year. While the app is currently an iOS exclusive, an Android version is promised to be arriving very soon.
Pros of Subaki
- Incredibly frictionless user experience with no accounts, no sign-ups, no ads, and no watermarks.
- Highly affordable subscription at just $11.99/year, and completely free for users in Greece.
- Robust customization options including trendy 'karaoke' styling, custom fonts, and hard-coded 'burned-in' exports.
Cons of Subaki
- Platform availability is currently limited to iOS, leaving Android users waiting for a future release.
- A strict 10-minute maximum video length makes the tool unsuitable for long-form content like full podcasts or YouTube essays.
Frequently Asked Questions
