Hand Wave is an AI-powered accessibility software designed to bridge communication gaps by converting sign language into written text and spoken speech in real time. By capturing visual hand movements through camera input, Hand Wave provides immediate auditory and textual feedback to facilitate seamless communication.
A key highlight of Hand Wave is its direct integration with Meta smart glasses, offering users a completely hands-free, wearable solution for live sign language interpretation. In addition to smart glasses, the application provides cross-platform functionality, supporting standard web browsers and iOS devices.
Under the hood, Hand Wave relies on a lightweight, open-source neural network trained on Google’s FSBoard dataset. The project is actively being developed, with ongoing work focused on enabling local, on-device execution to enhance overall speed, user privacy, and operational efficiency.
